Stacy Knull, P.Eng 

President & Chief Executive Officer

Stacy is President and Chief Executive Officer of Saguaro Resources.  Prior to founding Saguaro Resources in September 2012, Stacy was the Chief Operating Officer at Sinopec Daylight Energy where he built high end exploitation and operations teams, instituted the Full Development plan and captured significant savings through resource play development pads and operations.  From 1990 to 2011, he held progressively more responsible positions at Encana and its predecessor AEC.  These positions included Vice President of the Clearwater Business Unit and Vice President of the Fort Nelson Business Unit where he led the teams to tenfold production increases.  Other achievements in these positions included multiple, significant and profitable acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures in Canada and the USA as well as leading the teams through the development of major plays such as Suffield, Primrose, Peace River Arch, Jean Marie Play and the Integrated Horseshoe Canyon (CBM).  Stacy was also instrumental in the evaluation of the Duvernay, has gained vast technical knowledge of the US and Canadian shale basins.


Stacy is a Professional Engineer with APEGA, holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming and is a graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Petroleum Engineering Technology.


Scott Carrothers, CFA, MBA, P.Eng.

Vice President Finance & Chief Financial Officer

Scott is Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Saguaro Resources. Prior to joining Saguaro in 2015, Scott was Vice President Finance and Treasurer of MEG Energy, where his primary responsibility was developing and executing the company’s financing strategy during a rapid growth period. During his 28 year career, Scott has successfully raised billions of dollars in the equity, debt and bank markets in both Canada and the United States. He also has extensive experience in mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and trust spinoffs.


Scott holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation, an MBA from the Ivey School of Business and a B.Sc. in Engineering from the University of New Brunswick.

 

Tannis Gibson, P. Geol.

Vice President, Geology & Geophysics

Tannis is Vice President, Geology & Geophysics of Saguaro Resources.  Prior to founding Saguaro Resources, Tannis was the Manager of Exploration and Bakken Business Unit Manager at PetroBakken Energy where she was responsible for overseeing geology and geophysics personnel and led the economic growth of the production in the Bakken Business Unit to over 24,000 boepd.  She also was responsible for promoting and supporting new completions technologies to maximize oil recovery in the Bakken.  Tannis has held many diversified technical and managerial positions including Vice President Geosciences at Seven Generations Energy, Manager / Vice President Geology and Geophysics at North American Oil Sands / Statoil and Senior Geologist at Husky Energy.


Tannis is a Professional Geologist with APEGA and holds a Bachelor of Science Specialist Degree in Geology from Brandon University. 



Jason Hager, P.Eng., MBA

Vice President, Drilling & Construction

Jason is Vice President, Drilling and Completions of Saguaro Resources.  Jason has over 30 years of Drilling and Completions engineering experience and prior to founding Saguaro Resources, he held the positions of Senior Vice President of a major oilfield service company, Engineering Manager with an Engineering Consulting agency and lead Drilling/Completions consultant for several Junior and International energy companies.


Jason is a Professional Engineer with APEGA, holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming and is a graduate of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Petroleum Engineering Technology.  Jason also has a MBA from Queens University



Darcy McLaughlin, P.Eng.

Vice President, Engineering

Darcy is Vice President, Engineering of Saguaro Resources.  Darcy has 15 years of experience in reservoir, production, and completions engineering and acquisition and divestiture activities.  Prior to founding Saguaro Resources, he was a Senior Engineer at Surge Energy where he was responsible for evaluating new resource play opportunities and acquisitions and contributed to expanding Surge’s land position in an early stage resource play.  For 10 years, Darcy also held various engineering and strategic planning positions at Encana and its predecessor AEC. 


Darcy is a Professional Engineer with APEGA, holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming and is a graduate of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Petroleum Engineering Technology.



John Christoffersen, P.Eng.

Vice President, Operations & Facilities

John joined Saguaro Resources in April 2013 as Vice President, Operations and Facilities.  John has over 35 years of experience in field operations and facility engineering.  Prior to his position at Saguaro, he was Vice President, Production Operations and Facilities Engineering at Sinopec Daylight Energy and held increasingly more responsible roles for 13 years at Encana and its predecessor company AEC.  In addition to these roles, he has held various technical and leadership positions at Amber Energy, Pennzoil Canada, Amoco Canada and Amerada Minerals Corporation.  


John is a Professional Engineer with APEGA, holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming and is a graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Hydrocarbon Engineering Technology.



Esther Troyan

Vice President, Land & Business Development

Esther joined the leadership team of Saguaro Resources in July 2013 as Vice President, Land and Business Development.  Esther has over 20 years of experience in land management including 17 years of experience with private and public Junior E&P’s where she held a variety of roles with companies such as Senex Energy, Danoil Energy, and Elk Point Resources.  She has demonstrated achievements in business development and profit building with over $5.0B of asset transactions executed in her career to date.  Her vast Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin experience extends from the Jean Marie through the Montney to the Duvernay and Horseshoe Canyon.


Esther holds a Bachelors degree from University of Victoria and is a member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen.
